Storms like that are a semi-regular occurrence in my area. Typically at least 2-5 times per year on average (sometimes less, sometimes more). It happens with thunderstorms, and other times with regular ol' fall and winter storms. I don't even flinch when they forecast 65 mph (100+ km/h) winds anymore. lol Seen it countless times. But with high winds associated with thunderstorms in particular, I always keep an eye on the weather as it's happening, just in case.

Luckily, tornadoes in my area are very rare, but I have seen twisting clouds several times before. Once literally directly over my house when the clouds were aqua-green coloured. o_O Since I've been in the area I'm in now, there was a brief tornado touchdown about 6 miles (10 km) north of me once, and one time in the neighbourhood where I grew up, right at the end of my street there was a water spout that came off the lake (a rare occurrence) that snapped several massive trees, flipped a car and peeled up the corner of a fourplex apartment building. It happened while we were asleep. lol

Other than that, twisters tend to be rare in my area. Tornadoes, no, but high winds, tree-snapping downburst and straight line winds, derecho storms, cloud bursts and extreme rain, flooding, hail, etc., yes. Ohhhhhh, I've got stories to tell. LOTS of them. lol

Myself, though, I made sure everything is co-pathetic around the house. :biggrin:

Thankfully we don't get so many tornadoes either.They say it's because the Great Lakes act as a buffer or something.Almost always the damage comes from high winds with trees down,power outages etc.We've had a few trees go down this week.I'm still waiting on the city to cut down their tree on my easement.They are getting rid of every Cottonwood in the city.Mine was scheduled for last Fall and here we are.One big branch fell last year and busted my windshield and of course they won't reimburse me.
