well ****. i was just gearing up to run some tests on the black jvc amp i just repaired before recapping it....the input board, which i just replaced, just smoked.

dammit man. i just ordered the matching tuner last night too.

i'm not dumping anymore money in this thing. it'll go back in the boneyard. i should have left it there. ****!
 
i just thought about things and the way this amp failed has me wondering what really happened to it.

why did i have signal to the scope and the power meters right before it smoked because i had forgotten to put in the pre/main jumpers? it had no signal to drive the amp. so i gotta see where the smoke came from.

and its not in protect either
 
Well it is making me much better about tearing down this AM radio.....someone was in here before me...and busted up some stuff. I will work around the bad stand offs. The upper corner was cracked and they glued it up....not worried about that. I also think those caps are not stock!
