What are you Listening To Right Now? - and more

yesterday, i was peeking inside the jvc amp and saw a bit of fraying on the orange wire of the power switch

i'd seen a video of trevor's bench taking apart this switch so i knew it had extra contacts. my plan was to just jump a wire across and double up the contacts but when i removed it, i saw that the wires were originally on the opposite side so i got out my meter. no continuity on the other side.

no choice but to open it now

the contact on the left is what was being used. it was arcing away already. the contact on the right is the original side that was used. almost a 1/4" of metal has been vaporized over the years.

my concern was the center contact that acts as a pivot point. the original side had a bit of pitting that i 80% polished out. it measures 0ohm so good enuff for now.

i cleaned up everthing real good. flipped the body and contacts 180 degrees. strapped both sides together and added a proper snubber.

i do believe that my eq uses the same switch. next time i am in the eq i will get a pic of the part number and compare. no eq sm online, only schematic. no parts list.

will probably end up trading switches eventually. 18000uf caps are going in eventually and there is really no place to put a softstart.

happened to me with rear drivers side on way to the weed guys house a few months ago. easy enough to replace the stupid ass cable driven regulator when you aren't in ungodly pain.

took me forever to replace it just because of the pain i was in. i only just mounted the interior panel back on a few weeks ago.

power windows are great ...until they stop working but manual windows like to strip out the hand crank if the tracks aren't kept lubed so whattayado?
first one ive had quit in easily 30 yrs.
