What are you Listening To Right Now? - and more

A mix I put together (43 good cuts in there):

What can I say about this mix? Something happened in the industry, starting in England, during the days when I was in High School. It was as if someone tossed a grenade in there and things blew into pieces which came back together in random, surprising combinations: culture, styles, practices, boundaries, basically whatever you can think of. Then, the reassembled results flew off in all directions, and the explosion spread around the world. While the explosion mostly occurred during the early 70s, the effects did persist, to a degree, and are still rippling to this very day. Be prepared for some serious variety, because that's just the way things were, and to a certain degree, still are. Please relax...and...enjoy...

Please Note: This is a new development (a/o 12/19/24). If you have your ad blocker on for this site and for YouTube at the same time, the player above may only show and play the first cut in the playlist. If you turn off your ad blocker for either site, the above player will again show and play all the cuts in the playlist, ad free.

If you actually spin this mix, please let me know. That makes it worth the effort that went into its creation. Thanks.

Enjoy,

nothing to see here. line cord had exposed copper. going to lose a lot of length but that's ok. as long as it reaches the unswitched outlet on the back of the amp i'm fine.

this is dumb. there is no access to the internal coarse speed adjusters. going to pop a couple holes in the base so i can adjust it with the platter in place like my lab 400. will just have to hold it half off the shelf but at least it can be done on the fly unlike my technics tables where i have to remove the belt. remove the platter. adjust the trimmer. reassemble and test that i can bring the speed in with the external fine trimmer. . rinse . repeat. as anyone that has done it, itsa pita.

doing it this way, i can dial it in with both speeds at the same time so i shouldn't have to readjust each speed everytime i switch, like i have to on my technics.

That headshell screw is a pain. I remember that on my Technics Sl-1300, azimuth was also set via this screw

yup. i had to eyeball it carefully every time i brushed the stylus, it was that loose. this guy that sold it to me HAD to know. i mean, he did put the cheapest stylus he could find on that nice cart. since it had an aftermarket headshell on it, the cart wouldn't slide far enough back. the overhand was off about 6mm.

but this was restored to factory condition mind you:rolleyes:
