My friend Machan Taylor, of Pink Floyd fame, also toured with Sting- she said he was a narcissistic prick- she sang so well in Desert Rose he got scared and dumped her during the 2nd year of touring on a phone message (!!!!) instead of talking to her face to face... too much applause for her... I heard he was a prick from other people as well...

edit: He had his touring manager make the call , and he said, "the Boss" thinks it sounds "too oriental"... :(

Among other things she mentions in her autobiography, Sting also got pissed at my fave trumpet player, Chris Botti, for holding a note longer than he could! I got Machan to sign my copy of her book "Naked Out Loud", which she wants me to critique- nearly finished that now- it's an excellent read about the Rock world and superstars, her life coming from Japan as a litle kid, ups and downs, etc... :)
edit: oh, and the parties!!! She started singing professionally at 18 iirc... married Danny from Government Mule... :)
