I find tapes I made with other "hi-end" decks (my beloved Nak Dragon I had for 2 years, a 3-head Denon, a Nak LX3 and LX5) to sound exactly like the source material to me... of course always using good chrome or metal tapes, and Dolby C, and with the Denon, HX Pro also... Nakamichi will always be THE brand of cassette deck for me...Yes , I definitely think it makes better recordings. It just seems real good at both playback and recording. Definitely happy I bought it. The Cassette Deck 2 is working great as well. I had done over by a tech that I know about a year ago , Sat and had coffee and watched him do I all the recalibration witch the proper tapes and everything. Pretty neat watching him work. I also have CR2A that works good. Cheers Nutty![]()

@djwhy60 , what did those Pennsylvania winters do to you as a young lad?!?!![]()

I like using Dolby C as well. I also like when decks have HX Pro as well. I’d love to have a LX 3 or LX 5.I find tapes I made with other "hi-end" decks (my beloved Nak Dragon I had for 2 years, a 3-head Denon, a Nak LX3 and LX5) to sound exactly like the source material to me... of course always using good chrome or metal tapes, and Dolby C, and with the Denon, HX Pro also... That's a nice collection! I'm trying to remember the model of that Denon I had- a Denon DR-M24HX I believe... excellent 3-head deck! Not quite up to a Nak, but not far off... Oh yeah, I currently also have a JVC CompuCal dubbing deck that needs to be serviced- just another one of my gazillion retirement projects...I like using Dolby C as well. I also like when decks have HX Pro as well. I’d love to have a LX 3 or LX 5.
Here’s a full disclosure on the decks that have ( too many ) more than I can use lol but since when does that matter.I got them all at great prices or free.
Denon DRS-610 , slide drawer loading like a cd player.
