First time I heard Marillion, 1984, I did think it was Genesis but without the rhythmic grooves Genesis went into from time to time.
They are rather an acquired taste it seems.

I actually refrained from mentioning that he has written pieces for ballets...i know how talented the guy is.
And just for the record, they were never a metal band.
Hard rock, yes.
Metal, no.
Ironically, i know a few die hard prog guys that love the band...their later material reflected that side of their musical palette.

Seasons End is a good starter album. No Fish, but that might be a good thing for some.

All this stuff is making my own family crazy and confused, turning on each other like dogs behind the fence who can;t get to the mailman.
