Hendrix....Band of Gypsies, at around midnight. He says, Happy new year, first of all on that. Probably the radio, up till then.

Hopefully "Lena Horne at The Empire Room" as her opening show was December 31, 1956. The recording was made Feb. 20, 1957, but it's the closest to the New Year's Eve performance.

And Guy Lombardo's "Auld Lang Syne"... Just not New Year's without Guy and the Royal Canadians.

Lol! One would think. Actually, that's only 9 1/2 hours of music. It took a couple of days to get all the songs selected and burned onto discs.

Well, I was supposed to be playing in our local Big Band (17 pieces and our vocalist) for pay. But it got canceled because -- get this -- they didn't have the tickets ready at our last performance and they wouldn't take a chance on selling at the door, even though we have a loyal audience and announcements had been made. So I turned on internet radio via iTunes (thousands of stations) and settled down for a nap. That's OK on one hand because I don't like traveling with drunks on the road, but I'd rather play than listen. Guess I could have practiced my trumpet.
