What are your opinions on the following: Technics SL-D2 and Technics SL-B2

Just picked up a SL-B2 today along with a SL-23 (also belt driven) at a junk shop for $50.

I'm listening to Wish You Were Here right now on the SL-B2, and it sound great considering I've done nothing to improve it yet.

I will hit the controls with DeOxit tomorrow, but so far it sounds fantastic through the Marantz.

I have my D2 that I bought new back in 79 . Still going strong . I took it on the road with me back when I was a pro drummer .

Much as I like belt drive, I believe the D2 to be a better DD TT than the B2 is a belt TT. There will still be D2's spinning vinyl somwhere after we are all gone. Bought one new in '78. Still going strong, and looks virtually new.

I had a D2 and I loved it. It is a respectable and reliable turntable. I don't see the point of getting the B2. the D2 is better. If you want to collect turntables, I would save the dough for a nice Pioneer from the 70's.

I have a Thorens TD 166 and a Technics SL D2 . Both still work amazingly well ,considering that they are over 33 years old . All that's needed is a bit of lube oil on the platter bearings every 2000 hours of operation.
