What capacitor is this? Celestion UL6

This is in a Celestion UL6 speaker I picked up at an estate sale. It has a couple busted capacitors that need to be replaced. This will be my first time doing such a thing.

When I see this one, I see it as 16u.

I did take a pic and put it into an AI bot and the bot is certain this is a 15u.

Who wants to take a stand on this?

I looked around for schematics and other info on this specific speaker, but there is not much out there.

What are the negative consequences if the wrong one gets put in there?IMG_5319.pngIMG_5319.png

Looks like 16uF 50V Non-Polarized Electrolytic. AI is confused by the typeface. Higher voltage rating would be OK.
In many cases a "film" type of same or higher voltage rating would be OK. Depends on circuit function.

That looks like the old Callins brand that was popular in the mid 80's. Several of my AR's used them. They do not hold up well, and are known to leak. I'd replace them. Find another 16uF (MFD) cap. Any voltage 50V and higher is fine, as that won't harm anything. Any new 16uF cap will sound better than the stock cap. Check out Parts Express's listing for 16uF values. These 15uF caps are close enough in value, and would work too. The new Jantzen MKT caps are getting good reviews. Like a poly, they'll last forever, and won't be as bright as some poly film caps.

Good luck.

Thanks!

I feel good about these being 16uf now ;)

These UL6 have 3 in each speaker, 8, 12, and 16. Two of the 6 are absolutely bad so I am going to replace them all.

Good to know about the Jantzen possibly being less bright than other new ones.

I have not yet been able to hear these speakers truly perfeom but in looking at options for capacitors and digging into as much info as I could find in the UL6 it seems that natively they would be more towards warm than bright.

I appreciate the comments.
