What did you get for Christmas?

"On the 13th day of Christmas, my true love gave to me, a big old storage shed to contain all that stuff she gave me on the first 12 days along with receipts in case I wanted to exchange anything. Now, I have the 5 golden rings and the storage shed is a great big man cave with a 40,000 watt per channel 7.2 channel home theater system with 10 foot tall front speakers and 24.75 subwoofers ranging from 8 to 32 inch drivers and a 2000 inch 3D flat-screen."

Somehow, this last verse always gets omitted. :idea:
 
I don't need much in the range of what is affordable for us, but once in a while something comes up that scratches a very specific itch. For my Birthday / Christmas I found and got a new to us 65" Panasonic GT50 Plasma. :D After selling our existing TV and contributing some birthday money cost was only a couple hundred. I have always been a video enthusiast almost as much as audio, and my vision is sensitive to the point it limits what technologies I can watch. My first HD set was a 32" flat CRT Samsung that had a drop dead gorgeous picture, and progressive scan! I can see the flickering of interlacing on a standard TV and it always drove me nuts!. When I went to get my first big screen I bought a Samsung LED light engine DLP. Even with the LED light engine, I could still see RBE, standard DLP was worse. Settled on a SXRD projection TV (plasma was still too expensive) as a consolation. It never produced a picture that completely satisfied me. Sony replaced it with a standard CCFL backlit LCD as the result of a class action lawsuit, and again, I was never completely satisfied, and I didn't (and still don't) have the money for a Full Array Local Dimming LED LCD. For the first time in since that Samsung CRT, I have a picture I am satisfied with!

My wife loves her gadgets, so I got her one of the Sphero BB8 app controlled droids.
 
My honey gave me a David Tenant BBC TV movie on DVD,and some Balvenie Doublewood scotch. Plus, she let me buy a Jolida 502CRC integrated amp from Bartertown here!
(I managed to sell the 502 BRC amp I had before afterwards) .
And a warm sweater and such ... a very nice year.
FWIW, she bought me a pair of Von Schweikert VR-4 speakers LAST year for Christmas ...
we are still enjoying them!

As I expected, DPS Clause gave me a Class A CDL a few days early. Swift Clause is making me wait until January to open the truck driving job.

Otherwise, I got lots of hugs, smiles and some bucks (not the kind with antlers) to hold me through. That was all I wanted this year other than the 1 billion wallet size pictures of Ben Franklin which I somehow don't think I will ever get.

I often thought about a CDL but at 71 it's a bit late. All the same if I could get a ridealong and get some idea of how complex it is I might think again.

You don't know until you try. There IS more to it than there is to driving a car, but it's not impossible to learn. If I can do it, anyone can. Trust me.
