What Did You Pass On Today?

I was hot for a matching pre-amp to my Philips AH673 tuner that I picked up cheap at GW a few weeks ago.

These pre-amps have been running about $150 on eBay. I had a bid in for $136 but that still didn't clear the guy's reserve. Near the end I decided to go for it so bid $155 but still didn't clear reserve.

Waiting for the next bus......

BTW, today I did buy a DVP-S9000S for $350 delivered! (That includes shipping.) That's about $150 off regular eBay auctions (~$450 plus shipping). Now, let's see if it shows up!
 
Missed Sansui SP 2000's

A pair of Sansui SP 2000 speakers were being offered at a local rummage sale for $30 and I walked away for two minutes to ponder the rational for buying yet another set of speakers. When I finally came to my senses a man was backed up to the table and loading them in his trunk. He talked the man down to twenty dollars. Someone kick me please.
 
Passed on some gigantic Soundcraftsman graphic EQ at a thrift.

Didn't even write the model number or the price down; but I had to hurry to get my kid from school.
 
Passed on the Polk SDA-2 speakers for $200. I already have a pair. Although it would've made a killer surround system. What I was to late for was the Pioneer QX-949 Quad receiver with scope for $125.

Passed on a pair of unknown model # Altec speakers. They had a 10" woofer and what looked like a 10" passive radiator and a tweeter. Looked to be in good shape but I passed. I don't know anything about them so If someone else does and I made a mistake there is a chance that I could go back fo them.
 
Bang & Olufsen Beocentre 4600 at my local dump which would probably have set me back about £5. Good condition but needed a clean and had been sat in the rain so was rather soggy. Also no cartridge on the turntable so i passed (but not before slipping the original B&O stylus cleaning brush into my pocket when no-one was looking! :D )
 
Just passed on a Quadraflex 650 FETR receiver on e-pay. I was hoping no one would bid and the price would go down. I really wanted it. Now I feel bad for not bidding. Man, this is an addiction!
 
gave birddog my orinagnal 2325 an kept the newer one for myself!!!! hes always wanted one an never had one so he has been good in helpin me so i gave it to him. that way he can see ummm i mean hear the rantz bug us owners all have !!!
 
Yesterday at the flea market, a Jules Jurgensen 18K gold manual wind wristwatch from the '50s. It was $20, but I just sold off a pile of vintage watches and had no desire to get back into that. I pointed it out to a dealer who bought it. No doubt he'll have it cleaned up and for sale for $200 next Sunday. I probably screwed up, but I have so much stuff around here to sell 'eventually' tha tI can't keep track of it already.
 
This weekend, I passed on a Sansui G-4700 for $20, missing the AM antenna. Also a Sony STR-7800SD for $100 but missing a button and a knob. Pioneer SA-9100 with a bad case but working for $35, pass. Nikko NR-1019 for $60 in VCG condition, pass. MCS 3233 for $50 also in VCG, pass. Sanyo Plus 75 for $30, pass.

That one is headed my way. :banana: I agonized over the opening bid price, but it is well described, and the seller seems to pack very well... Sorry, but I am very excited about this one. A true under-the-radar receiver: well-built, MOSFET power. Maybe even the *first* MOSFET receiver? Plus, from what I've read in the long Pacific Stereo/Concept Richard Schram discussion thread, I think he was really proud of this one... Giggity Giggity! :D
 
Marantz stack of gold faced digital something seperates. Of no interest to me.
Did pick up the Advent II's that possibly was part of system. Add to GF's. setup
 
Tonight I passed up on hundreds and hundreds of pieces of gear, some nice, some good, but mostly BPC and nineties' mini-component systems and cheap boomboxes, some Bose, a good number of Advents and ARs, though, plied up in the usual wholesale places. Passed up on way too much stuff to even remember it all, much less start listing it.

That said, I finally picked up and brought home my new Marantz PMS-7000 "portable music system" (got to love that acronym!), the biggest boombox Marantz ever made, the only one I've seen with active speakers (with amps inside each speaker), and considered to be one of the rarest "holy grails" for boombox collectors. I think it looks rather "cool", too, in its own three-tone (silver, gold, bronze-ish brown) vintage Marantz way. Sure wasn't going to let that one get away!!:no:
 
I passed on a Pioneer SX 3700 for $25.00 It was in good shape , just dirty.
For some reason I thought it was the 30 watt unit . When I thought about it and realized my mistake it was TOO LATE . Bummer 45 watts per is in the collecting range for me :tears:
 
Mission 700S (made in Canada not GB) for $24 passed due to beat up non removable grills. SAE TWO T6 tuner for $25 due to peeling fake veener and the sense that it was made well after the label was past it's prime.

Bummer! That is a wonderful BIG HEAVY box of electronics. Bookasan was kind enough to send me a spare knob off a dead 5800 for free. I woulda grabbed that one if it was functioning properly....That's 80 cents per watt...:scratch2:
