What do they weigh?

I've been seeing various turntables (hereafter abbrv. as TT...) with small chrome cylinder weights, hanging from a small line--ahead of the counterweight--to act as an 'inside force canceler'--what other TT's label their anti-skating function. However, NO ONE--in the factory owners manuals--tell you how much those little cylinders actually WEIGH! Many of the TTs for sale on Ebay that use these weighs, don't have them anymore! You could build a replacement weight, if you have an accurate mini-scale, but how much is it supposed to weigh? Is there any place that sells replacement weights for this?

EBay sells these anti skate weights. In a pinch you can use lead shot for fishing. When I had my Music Hall turntable tuned up a couple years ago by a person I consider a master, he found the stock weight was too strong for the anti skate. He fashioned a correct weight out of some lead shot fishing weights (very small ones).
At the time he told me for my table he wanted just over 2 grams. Told me to keep an eye out on EBay for a factory weight that matched. I found one, but never bought it. Still using the fishing weight system.

Thanks for the input....I have a FIVE gram weight that I use to calibrate my stylus tracking force gauge, but it seemed like it would be 'too much.' Using lead split shots sounding like a better way to rig something up--thanks!

Oh yeah....that looks like just the ticket! Doesn't even look bad, either! ( Function before Form...) Does the fishing line knot ever come undone?

To answer your original question, they usually weigh about 2 or perhaps as much as 3ish grams. The actual correct weight isn't absolutely necessary if you check your anti skating with a blank disc or test record, as long as you start in the ballpark.

Here's a DIY thread I posted. Since then I've found good metal bead wire crimps at a craft store so I don't have to be as expert at tying knots.
