What do you think, Pioneer PL-55X, Sansui SR-525, Realistic LAB-500 (Pictures)

Hi,

What should I get between a Pioneer PL-55X, Sansui SR-525, Realistic LAB-500. It's all in excellent condition, all from the same owner for a local pick up, Is there any of them known as good turntable, if it's worth it or not.

I have the Pioneer 55x and it's a nice spinner. Well built and a pretty good performer. Can't speak for the others, however but if the Pioneer is in good shape you could do a lot worse.
 
How about getting all three and choosing the one you like? :D You could always keep one as a back-up, in case another needs repair.
 
I have the Pioneer PL-55X and it's a dandy table. No experiance with the other two. but I would pass on the one with the P mount cart only because it limits your choices.
 
The LAB-500 does not have a p-mount cart. It's an integrated cartridge that accepts an N95ED or N95HE, so that's hardly something to avoid. And, it's a standard bayonet mount so it will accept any standard headshell.

I'd say quality- and sonic-wise it's a toss up. It comes down to what works best for you ergonomically. If I'm not mistaken the 55X is auto-return, the Sansui is manual, and the LAB-500 is fully auto, and the newest of the bunch.
 
My vote goes to the PL-55x.....but I own one. My main table with a Shure V15 Type IV cartridge and a JICO SAS stylus. Dang nice sounding...very solid performer. No experience with the other 2.
 
I'm in the process of restoring a Sansui SR-525 and am really impressed with it, even with an old Pickering XV-15 cartridge that I had lying around. Can't wait to get something better than that and let the thing really shine.
If I had the choice though, which I didn't, I would go for some sort of automation, I really miss that on it.

I owned a Sansui SR-525 and was pretty impressed by it. No experience with the other two. the Realistic has the looks though.
 
Don't rush into it! Wait for a good Thorens, Linn or AR to come along. None of the tables you are choosing from are going to sound as good as 3 point suspension tables IMHO. Be patient.
