What does '' STK '' stands for....

The 'S' could be the manufacturer, Sanyo, but I don't think it means anything -- it just designates Sanyo's product category of amplifier and power supply thick-film hybrids.

So, thx all with your responses.... thought that STK creator had been a little bit more refined in his use of an

acronym.

Got 3 amps that sports those and having no problem... until they die.

Subjectively I'd say discrete components sound better than STKs. However I'd rather repair a STK amp. One part...that's all !

I have seen it explained that STK modules cost more to produce than the individual discrete components they replaced. The advantage to a manufacturer who incorporated them was reduced assembly time therefore less expense.

I used to look down on them until recently but realized they can be every bit as good as discrete components.

The drawback today is finding trustworthy replacements.
