What earphones do you use?

Now that my better half has gone to the large sound room in the universe I don't use my headphones anymore. But up until 5 years ago I did. I have a two pair of Stax electrostatics, a pair of Signet electrostatics and a pair of Sennheiser 598s. I detest earbuds and the Sennheisers work great with my my iPhone 10x when I am sitting around waiting for car repairs or to see a doctor or dentist. They are a bit laid back which I prefer for casual listening. Some might say a little mellow with just a bit of added warmth in the mid bass and bass.

When I traveled at work in company vehicles I would take my Nakamichi 550 and the headphones. Times when we were traveling in the Diesel motor home I would use the head phones while Carol was taking a nap or watching the TV.

Generally we speak of Headphones here, but what about Earphones or In-Ear Headphones (IEM's)? What's your favorite pair and why do you like them?

I use the earphones that came with my Galaxy S9. They're Samsung EO-IG955's tuned by AKG. There's tons of fakes & Chinese clones out there, but if you can find a genuine pair, they're superb.

Here's one of my favorite audio reviewers putting these against a pair of very typical Apple Earpods

My AKG/Samsung earbuds have been used and abused for nearly 2 years straight, but they still work like new. They also don't make me look like a weirdo (unlike on-ear Headphones), and they're pretty sensitive...93.2Db/mW, 32 Ohms.

I had 2 or 3 pairs of Samsung earbuds that came with the galaxy phones I used to have. They were surprisingly good. Unfortunately, I lost them in my travels. I have a pair of bluetooth earbuds that I'm not very impressed with. Soundcore Life Dot 2 XR. I must say they are pretty good for phone conversations. I can hear the other person clearly and they can hear me even if I am outdoors in high winds. I guess they have 4 microphones (2 in each earbud) for a reason! Also, their battery life is pretty good. Unfortunately, they tend to fall out of my ears. They don't sound especially good with music and the noise cancellation is not very good. So, they get a grade of C.

I own 3 pairs of Sennheiser headphones. I don't own any ear buds. I have no use for them because I can't stand them in my ears.

With regards to this thread's title the headphones I use most are the Focal Clear, Focal Elear (with the Reference 4 DSP software), Audio-Technica ATH-M50x and Senn Momentum on-ear first generation.

Etymotic Research ER2SE with foam tips for sound quality and times when I don't need/want to hear outside sounds, and a pair of surprisingly decent sounding cheapie Sennheiser normal buds when I know I'll need to pull'em out frequently, quick checks of equipment on location, or need to hear outside sounds simultaneously.

I use the Klipsch T5M. I prefer wired earbuds because I mostly use them inside my helmet while I ride. They sound great, do a good job of keeping the wind noise out and last (but maybe the most important to me) is they work well close to two years after I bought them. I think they’re about $60 a pair.

I have a beat around pair of Bose Pro's, but my favorite earbud/IEM would be the 64 Audio Duo's which are great for long listening hours as they are built like a pair of open backs. Next move is Customs to which I was looking at FiR Audio for. Anyone have good custom IEM experience anywhere?

I have several older Pioneer pairs Se-505,SEL401 and SE-502's but, I always seem to reach for the Se-505's (Rt. side Bottom) when I do use headphones.

I use a pair of Audio Technica Air, Ath-700. They are real light and comfortable, and also open backed. I have a bit of TMJ on my left side, and headphones that clamp down tightly give me an earache pretty quickly, but these open backed ones I can use for extended listening comfortably, and they don't sound like they are drilling the sound into your head, more atmospheric sounding.

I certainly understand sir but, if it's old I probably have it, LOL! To go out and spend money on something I really don't need and or to replace something that still works I just can't justify
, so I still have these old things and to tell ya the truth the SEL-401's (top rt.) are real light and comfortable but, for some reason I prefer engulfing my ears with the old style headphones. LOL!

Thats cool! When I first saw your SEL-401's, it made me think of my old as the hills pair of Koss Pro-4A's, with the liquid ear cushions. They were my first serious headphone purchase way back when. When I blew $50 on them, that was a major purchase for me! Where in East Texas? Long time ago, I was in Ft. Worth, really liked Texas, and also Quicksilver MS! I know exactly where my copy is

I remember Lake Worth. I lived near to North Richland Hills off Hwy 121. I left there in 8th grade and moved to Atlanta, but I have been in south Ga. since 1980.
I was glad to get out of Atlanta, too many horses there for me!!

Sorry for your loss. You had some incredible cans! I'm not a fan of jamming **** into my ears also...

I have several sets of headphones, including the Beyer Dynamic DT990 Pro (highly recommended) and Sennheiser HD6XX's (from Drop), HiFiMan HE4XX (Highly recommended), Audio Technica S700BT, Pioneer HDJ-X5 (waste of money), AKG K240 mk II (pretty good cheap monitoring cans), plus a few other cheap headphones. I would highly suggest the Beyer 990's for a neutral monitoring headphone-type. No bloated fake mid-bass, just a clean and clear sound! I love the sound of them. Also highly recommended are the Sennheiser HD6XX's and the HiFiMan HE 4XX's! Each has their strengths, but I particularly love the planar magnetic sound of the HiFiMan's! The HD6XX's (Drop's version of an HD650) is an industry standard. If you want more opinions just say so...

My current preferred headphones are AKG K361's, they are inexpensive and just sound great. My new IEM toy are the Moondrop Chu's, great sound and good fit (for my ears at least) for about $22 shipped. Previously, my favorite cheap IEMs were the Vsonic VSD1S buds, but these are harder to find now; I think I paid about $38 for them. Lighter than the CHU's and just as good sound.

Apple AirPod Pros for earphones. Great for noisy traveling. Super compact and you can turn on and off the noise cancellation. I'll take a nap with just the cancellation on and it'll block out most drones of jet engines.
