What gauge wire should I use with my Kenwood KR-7600?

Hello!

I recently got my dad's Kenwood KR-7600 receiver and Kenwood KD-2055 record player set up at home. He had these hooked up to speakers throughout the house, and I couldn't take those or the wires home.

So I got myself a pair of Klipsch RP-600M Bookshelf Speakers to pair with the Kenwoods. What I'm not clear on is what gauge wire / what speaker cables I should be using.

Any recommendations on speaker cables for this set up or what gauge wire I should be using?

Parts Express will have what you need. Depending on the lengt you have to cover, i would go with #16 or 14 gauge as, the KR's terminals in the back, won't take much larger.
 
Turboyam gives good advice. PE also sells a good selection of banana plugs, so you can tailor you wire choice to your particular needs.
Be sure to observe proper polarity between receiver & speakers.

Speaker connections are labeled PLUS (+) or MINUS (-) on both the receiver and on each speaker. Most speaker wire has a "tracer" on one leg (either a raised or painted-on line), use the tracer on the PLUS terminals, and all will be good....

Means wire both speakers the same. Red terminal on left channel goes to the same terminal on the left speaker (red or black it does not matter) as the red terminal on the right channel goes to.

If you do red to red on both it is easy to remember but you can do red to black on both speakers. It is all about both speakers are wired the same. This so the woofers go out together and come back together (wired the same and in phase) instead of the opposite which will reduce bass response and is out of phase.
