What Interconnects Do You Use?

And why?

I've been using Wasatch (a small Utah company started by former Kimber folks) 105U ICs http://www.wasatchcableworks.com/Products.htm and have been very pleased with them. Compared to the Tara Labs I had been listening to, they are a nice step up. Was convinced to try them a few years ago by David Lewis. He offered a personal money-back guarantee. And he knew of what he spoke.

Recently got a set of Kubala-Sosna Imaginations http://www.kubala-sosna.com/, which are sounding quite nice. With the new MC602 will be comparing a set of their Imaginations against a set of their Fascinations. With their excellent 30-day return policy, I will give back the loser.

Anyone else done any IC-rolling?

The Kubalas are very good cables. had a set of Anticipations here for a few weeks on loan, and really had to resist the urge to buy them. Have enough cables...
They are seductively smooth and offer great bass.

Darn it, now I'm thinking about buying them again !

Enjoy,
Mike

Paying $180 for a 2.0M set of XLR Imaginations. Am guessing the Fascinations in the same length are going to be about $800, but haven't heard back as of yet. Anticipations are the IC between the Imagination and Fascination, so am guessing that they would be about $400. The Imaginations are the least expensive and the Fascinations are the lowest in their line of magic Z-juice filled ICs. K-S states on their website that little or no break-in is required and I should hear the difference almost immediately. Shall find out in about a week.

I use DH Labs Revelation balanced interconnects from my DAC to C45 and C45 to MC402. Other single ended interconnects are all Transparent Musiclink, fairly inexpensive, nice and transparent (no pun intended) and really just used for the HD receiver and DVD analog outputs.

I am using Grover Huffman's cables (Grovers)....UR8 and UR6 and a pair of phono cables...you can read about him at Steve Hoffman TV web site. The cables are really good, and a great deal, especially when bought used like I did. Pretty transparent and I never felt anything lacking.

After too many IC's, I've settled down with the least expensive IC's I've ever owned, at least in the main system and was quite surprised at their giant killer performance. Guerrilla Audio XLRs. The only "black sheep", not cheap IC in my system is the AES/EBU Nordost Silver Shadow between the MCD and MDA, I couldn't find anything cheaper that has better performance.

Serge,

Have you tried Cardas Neutral Reference .... AES/EBU .... think they are cheaper ... and better! Serious! and its not because I uses it (partly so though must admit :D )

Try and if you dont think so after that, owe you a Coke! :thmbsp:

I've owned Cardas before, I and my friends used the Golden Cross to tame the overly aggressive sounding systems with great success. The new Cardas are much more neutral. Digital cables are weird, you try a bunch and never hear a difference and every once in a while.... you come across one that simply stands out from the first note. So it was with Nordost and Ivan's WireWorld AES/EBU cable that he sent me to try.

I use PURIST. I like the fact that they put SNAKE OIL into the SNAKE OIL. Thats what makes them cool, and the SNAKE OIL does sound better !

I once stepped on my Purist Colossus which were fluid filled and made a mess on the carpet. I had to send it back for a SNAKE OIL refill, but dam they do sound different without the oil.

BTW, Serge how was the Wireworld AES/EBU ? I am using a DH Labs 110 ohm AES/EBU right now.

In one word, "awesome". Offers even more detail without ounce of harshness. I've heard others that had similar effect in my system but sounded more aggressive with many recordings. The saxophones, trumpets and horns took on an unrealistic amount of "bite", the Silver Shadow softens them ever so slightly while wireworld made them shine through without the unnatural "edge" of many other cables. One of these days I may lose my "rational" thought process and rewire my whole system with wireworld cables that Ivan uses. :D

I'm using Tributaries Silver XLRs......

......and I've got lower grade Tributaries RCA Subwoofer interconnects. Probably need something better for the Sub, but the XLRs are great. I'm hearing more and more that XLR connections eliminate much of the need for ridiculously expensive interconnects.

My Heimdall's so far, quite nice. I really like their dynamics and tones. If these had more "air" and a bit more weight, I think that would put them in the next league. None of the bad stuff mainly "grain". Im sure the Flatline speaker cable isn't helping the Heimdall's though.

My 3.6 brother, I havent heard of anyone refer to Transparent as inexpensive before :scratch2: thats what i am using as well for now, will try some others at some point after I am familiar with the new speakers and everything is broken in...

nothing TOO fancy here, Kimber PBJ's for the cdp and QED Qunex 3 for the tt...

I'm looking at MIT for the tt though, maybe a slightly better Kimber for the cdp too...
