What is a effective and safe sticker residual remover for dust covers?

I picked up a beautiful condition Pioneer PL-15D II, dustcover is really nice except from some sticker residual. I want it to come right off easily but not haze/fog the dust cover material

Thanks in advance!

+1 for Goo Gone, Safe and effective, wherever I've used it. Don't confuse it with "Goof Off" - volatile and dangerous.

Cheers,

I use this for delicate work, especially around plastics and lettering:

Dish soap.

I always start with the most benign thing I can find. If water doesn't work, soap or isopropyl alcohol often will. Lighter fluid or WD are not bad at all. Acetone too, but not on all plastics so tread lightly.

NO. NO. No, to the Isopropyl.
It will cloud the dust cover.

Not really in my experience, and just to prove it I went to get some IPA and tested it on 2 covers. One was a Dual that had no stickers on it and the other a Music Hall from which I peeled off 2 or 3 of the 8 or 9 on the cover. No residue and no clouding on either.

That said, it's still not my first choice. I typically use Novus 2 on many covers to get them to presentable condition after cleaning gunk off. I do so many I bought a gallon of the stuff. Often I wet sand too to get rid of deeper scars.

I had 91% IPA cloud a cover of a pioneer a while back.
Maybe it is a different material.

I agree about the Novus. Better stuff.

I use charcoal starter fluid! I also use it to clean the dustcovers before attempting polishing of any kind.Never had a problem.

Goo-Gone works good. The active ingredient is mineral spirits. The orange thing is just misguided "organic" schtick. It doesn't really do much.

Citrus based solvent is mostly esters instead of straight hydrocarbons, more like a gentle acetone than mineral spirits. I had a bottle I found at a thrift store. It works fine as a degreaser and is certainly a good use for otherwise useless citrus peels. I don't know if it would work on label adhesive or not, just saying it's not a useless product (or misguided either).

I use vegetable oil on the adhesive, then something to take off the oily residue, like Goop hand cleaner (the kind without the abrasive). I imagine mineral spirits would work just fine too.

Some very sensible replies so far. Allow me to offer an alternative that is very easy to use, a propane torch. The glue residue won't stand a chance...:)

I will try the Goo Gone. I have the Goof Off stuff here and man just the smell of it makes me not to even mess with it. Very nasty stuff but I am sure is good for other things. Thanks for the replies, I was considering Goo Gone from the start but wanted to see what other people's experience with it has been
