What Is Going On With Sansui Prices?

I have been looking on Ebay at the price of integrated amps, the usual stuff, Pioneer, Yamaha, Luxman and Sansui.

I feel the price of Sansui is getting out of control, I thought this one was bad enough:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Sansui-AU-717-I...pt=Vintage_Electronics_R2&hash=item1c163fbbe5

Over $250.00 including shipping for a AU-717 that DOES NOT WORK!

Then I saw this one:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Sansui-AU-777-M...pt=Vintage_Electronics_R2&hash=item3f03cebf83

Is the AU-777 that good that it's worth a $1000.00?

I know Sansui is good gear but why is it so much more expensive than Pioneer, Yamaha, Luxman etc?

The price for the AU-777 is just his asking price. It doesn't reflect what he will really get. I hope...

I've seen 2 G9000's go for $960+ and 1100+. I'm thinkiing I need to list mine!

Agreed. though I'll never part with the G-8 or G-9 I'm on the fence at the moment because they are getting ridiculous. Demand is fascinating...

I was watching this AU-717. Not to buy, just to watch.

I think the price was fair.

Beautiful amp.

Rob

Hey Rob is that AU719 with the broken treble pot worth a look or should I pass and wait for a 717, sold both of my 5000Xs for almost $250.00 apiece now I am on the hunt.:D Thanks for the push!

I'm also amazed at the recent surge in Sansui integrated amp/receiver selling prices. I wonder if it's something to do with an influx of buyers from overseas? That happens from time to time, where eBay manages to take-off due to an ad campaign in another country, then whatever items seem desirable to the population ends up surging. All it takes is 2 people to drive up an auction to stellar prices...

I got my G9 this past summer for $600- seems like a good investment now though I do not treat it as an investment; that presumes selling for profit later, which I do not intend to do. But is IS nice to finally buy something before a climb in market valuation:yes::yes:

BTW, did anyone see that less-than-presentable G33K just go for $3500 in IL?:tears:

The price for alot of stuff(good, decent, so-so, and crap) is way out of line nowadays:sigh:. This is because of the vintage market and it's spread on the world-wide web. The price of just about everything on E-Bay is bid up because of clueless numbskulls, or slicksters, or guys who want something so badly that they're willing to pay through the nose for it. Funny, but alot of the stuff that's way overpriced wasn't great gear back when it was new:boring:. Maybe it's a case of always wanted one and couldn't afford it way back when:tears: and gotta have one now:yes:, or trying to turn back the hands of time:banana:...

If it doesn't go much higher.

You would be happy with either a 717 or 719.

...I think for some it's a one-time purchase of something they remember from the golden age, and paying a few hundred dollars is not a big deal, probably not even a factor since they are not part of the hoard or polish & flip game.

Good to here what's going on I just took my au-919 off
duty and put my yammie M-80 to work and pull it's weight
for awhile. Im thinking of listing my 919 localy for$350
but was kinda reluctant. Now I'm going to sit n wait awhile.

I have a AU517/TU517 should I get the tuner for the AU719 our use my TU517 and do I sell the AU517 or keep it, great amp and never gives me trouble.
