Type II quality brand name blanks can bring in a good profit. I have done it.
Type 1's, not so much.
Just one example -
Saw a lot of 10 Maxell UR blanks, sealed, for $15. "Free" shipping
Blank tapes are typically 50 cents each at thrift. So there is $5.
Shipping those 10 blanks would cost a dead minimum of $6.
So, the tapes and postage would cost the seller $11 and IF they sell, they would revenue $15. That gives a big $4 profit. But let us not forget packaging materials cost, oh let's just say 50 cents (packaging tape, padding, and the box). Now we have $3.50 profit. Of course the auction site is gonna get $1.50 (final value fee) and paypal will take about 70 cents. So now that profit is down to... $1.30 for TEN blanks, 13 cents each.
Let's not forget the hassle of listing the product, packing it, and possibly an inconvenient trip to the post office.
One could ASK more but for most everyday type 1 blanks, about $1 each (including shipping) is what one should expect to pay.
Even if someone was moving 100's of type 1 banks (at 13 cent profit each) there would still be the hassles of listing, packaging etc..
Is there really much point or have I missed something?
