when it comes to electronics, i know just enough to connect my gear 8)

i picked this up with some other goodies and i am guessing it could be a step transformer? it is a heavy little bugger, weighing in at around 8 pounds.

the switch says CAMBIO / TENSIONE and it has multiple settings marked: 110, 125, 140, 160, 220, 260, & 280.
perhaps that is voltage settings?

what exactly do i have and please enlighten me as to what it is used for. thank you very much!

If the unit has no power cord attached, I am thinking it could be used as a step up or step down transformer by using the various pin jacks (I assume the round black device is just a fuse holder and not a Voltage selector, it is too small in the pic. to see). :idea:
