What kind of solder and what temperature for tonearm wires?

Hello all, hope you had a good holiday and that your new year goes well.
Ok, so I'm currently working on my Technics SL-1400 MK1 that I've had for many years. Unfortunately, several years ago I thought it would be a good idea to try to 'self ground' the turntable. Looking at my handy work from my early 20s makes me laugh at my foolish impatience. Anyway, I'm attempting to repair my bad soldering job but after thinking about it for a bit, I'm wondering if the solder that I have is the correct kind. If my memory is correct, I used a silver kind of solder back then so I'm wondering what the best kind would be for this repair. I'm going to de-solder the tonearm wires from the little circuit board, clean that board and resolder the tonearm wires, and fix the self ground mod I did and just put everything back the way it's supposed to be. My question is, what kind of solder, and what's the best temperature setting to have it at?

60 / 40 solder and a pencil iron. Silver solder melting point is way too high. You want to solder, not braze.
Practice soldering until you get the feel and confidence.
 
63/37 is the eutectic alloy of tin and lead. Eutectic means that both alloying elements solidify at the exact same time. Eutectic also has a very small plastic range. It's what I use. My soldering station always has an 800 degree tip in it. Gotta be quick.

60/40 has numbers like 183/190°C for a melting point. Since it is not eutectic the melting point is more a range than a number.
63/37 the eutectic tin/lead solder melts at 183°C
Sn62/Pb36/Ag2, 2% silver solder is eutectic and melts at 179°C

Not knowing what the OP used, it is hard to tell what the melting point would be but a lot of high tin solders with silver do have melting points about 300°C.

I would use a eutectic solder and you can use a much lower temp, closer to 700↑F if you have adjustable instead of one that needs tip changes to change the soldering iron temp.

Tin every connection before you make it and the actual time soldering the wire to the cartridge tag is very, very quick.
