20161229_113201.jpg A employee at work said he had a pair of Klipsck speakers at home and sent this picture to me. I can find it any model number and looked on the internet but can't find a picture of them. He said a friend got them in the early 80's in Germany.

They look like ESS AMT 1's to me. There some great sounding speakers with the Heil air motion tweeters. Do they have the covers that go over the drivers? However looking closer at them im not sure that's the Heil air motion tweeter.

The cabinets in the OP appear to be straight, ESS AMT1 cabinets are tapered/pyramid shaped, and the ESS woofer mounting rim is much narrower than the one in the OP.

I'm pretty sure it's safe to say those aren't Klipsch though, so maybe the person who sent that picture can look on the back for any evidence of what that model number is?.

hacked up AMT II's, aren't they?

That beige woofer cone in the OP's pic doesn't match, but I don't know the history, did ESS ever use a beige cone?

WTF happened to the AMT? What is that thing.

Cabinet looks to be a match in all other respects.

It's the AMT out of a newer AMT 10b

I'm pretty sure the woofer in the OP is that color as a result of UV fade, it was once the color you'd expect.

I was going to post the AMT1a for reference. :)

Is it possible they could have been sold/installed by a dealer as replacements?

EDIT: ................ as the only available replacements at the time?
as far as i recall. ESS rebuilt the Heils when shipped to the factory. No dealer i know of would have done this. You never know though.

thanks for the effort guys, I agree its got to be less ant xx, probably hacked up. the transformer is flat in my picture and more a v shape on all other pictures I could find.I asked him to go over it and try and find some markings tonight. He had a picture of the back and there was not place to hook up speakers so I told him to check the bottom. There has to be markings somewhere. I will post when i find out more.

AMT with a lesser Heil so xover frequency is a problem. try to replace with proper Heil for that model.
