I used to go to Pacific stereo in California back in the mid seventies and they had the first panel speaker that I had ever seen,
and it was an Infinity but I have no clue what model they were .

I think I was 14 and about 5 foot nothing tall and they towered over me ,does anyone know what model they could have been?

Roughly what year? Here's a (translated) link to the Infinity Classics site. Anything look familiar in there?

the year would have been 73-74 and I do not remember if they were part of a display or actually for sale as they never seemed to play them,

I looked at the site but it is hard to say if any were them but they would have been close to 6 foot tall .

I would ride my apple krate Schwinn down there to drool over the receivers and I remember thinking they were the tallest speakers I had ever seen and had the infinity logo on them.

I lived in Bellflower and that was a 15 mile ride for me as the only local stereo store was cal stereo and they had much less to look at.

My bet would be QLS1s, though 73-74 seems a little early for them. Think they were introduced in 1976. They're about 6 feet tall. It's also possible they were RS-4.5s, though those were introduced even later. RS-1s and the like weren't introduced until the 80s. In 73-74, I don't think they produced anything like you're describing.

One of Infinity's first speakers and its flagship model was the Servo-Static that had tall electrostatic panels for the mids and high frequencies and a servo controlled woofer. I don't recall our local Pacific Stereo ever stocking a pair. The only other tall panel speakers I remember that they did stock for quite awhile where the Phase Linear Andromeda III models that turn up for resale on occasion and I know threads about them appear here on the AK Speaker Forum now and then. I have never seen a used pair of Infinty Servo-Statics for sale and I would suspect if they needed repairs there would be no way to fix them.

Yeah, the Servo Static 1As (not the original Servo Statics) came to mind, but they're under 5 feet tall so I figured it wasn't them. Great speakers if you get them working.
