What MP3 Player will sync with car stereo?

my auto cd player won't play cds, but it has a usb port so I'm using it to play an old MP3 player.
the player is acting up and I need a new MP3 player that will sync with car stereo.

I've bought two that won't work.

can anyone recommend one? preferably under $20.

If your car player is setup with USB you should not need a player. Load MP3 music. into a thumb drive and plug it into the USB port play it through your car radio. I rather like SanDisk. The only downside is the UI might suck.

By MP3 player do you mean a USB memory stick? What do you mean by "acting up" - you can't play the music files on it? An MP3 player describes a standalone device that has a hard disk e.g. iPod or iPhone, & you can listen to music files via headphones or by plugging into a deck of some sort.

What do you mean by "sync"? Do you mean compatible i.e. the ability to play music from a USB device plugged into a CD player? If this is the case then it's usually the CD player which dictates compatibility, not the USB device.

mp3 player is gadget that contains music etc.
car stereo has a USB port. I have a cheap old MP3 player that connects via cable to the USB port. car stereo turns on, plays, does 'random', etc.
other unit, I need to connect USB for power, and 1/8 jack for sound. and it won't play random (it should but it doesn't).
trying to find a player that only needs the USB connection.

I have used flash drives in the car. I also use a 40 gig portable hard drive that I bought to listen to my music on my computer at work several years ago. Now that I'm retired, it's pulling duty in the car. If your mp3 player won't work with USB, try it with an 1/8" cable from the headphone jack to the car player, if the car player has an 1/8" input jack like mine does. In that case, you'll need to run the mp3 player off of it's battery.

I also play music from flash drives in my car. It is much easier than using an mp3 player, which I have also used. Peace and goodwill.

Not trying to be difficult, but I am genuinely confused regarding the need for MP3 player suggestions in 2019.

Essentially every mobile phone sold for at least the last 10 years can function as an MP3 player, and play many other types of audio files as well. Furthermore, most (all?) current phones can stream directly without the need to even store files on the phone itself.

And obviously phones can be connected either via usb or simply via a double 1/8" jack cable.

I returned the $30 MP3 player and got a $7 thumb drive
guess I'm just too old too keep up with technology
