What OIL to use for Pioneer PL-41 ?

wow, sorry. my eyes crossed right over that. I guess I didnt see a ".com", so I went on. thanks for the wake up. :-(

Very good summary. I might add to stay away from 3 in one household oil as it is parafin based. It will set up and hard coat bearing surfaces. Gun oil is high viscosity and may be a nice choice for bearings but I would try to use something that runs a little more for that coating action. The cueing dampers, man I just bought some silicon weight 300,000 for my Marantz 6100damping reservoir. Again I like the oil sold at Radio Shack in the small tube for precision motors. Stuff comes in a tube whth a shirt pocket clip if you can believe it.

I hear this crap about "3-In-One" constantly. It'll do this, it'll do that. Show me one piece of evidence to substantiate this claim. I don't think you, or anyone else, can because (as P.W.K. would say) it's :bs:. "3-In-One" is a FINE PRODUCT for it's intended purpose.
I want to see JUST ONE piece of evidence where "gumming and sticking" has occurred as a result of using "3-In-One" to reduce friction between (2) or more pieces of metal.
I would not, and do not use household oil for spindle bearings for various reasons, BUT, it's not going to hurt a damn thing if you do.
And when folks ramble on about how bad "paraffin based" lubricants are they are showing the fact that they do not know SQUAT about petroleum based lubricants.
"ZOOM" which is an excellent product, and proven so in the field, is intended for use and long term protection on HIGH SPEED, TIGHT TOLERANCE bearings (which are capable of generating more heat than ANYTHING on ANY TURNTABLE ever will come close to) among another 100 or so devices, all of which are precision fits and have great potential for high heat generation. Funny, it's PARAFFIN BASE and NON-GUMMING. I use it to lubricate my tables' motors. Works so well it'll quiet a worn out exhaust fan motor for years. Once again, it's PARAFFIN based, just like the oil that 99% of you put in your automobile engines (and I don't care what the motor oil's packaging does, or doesn't say), it's PARAFFIN BASED, believe you me. Only exception, 100% synthetic.
I don't think some of the internet noise makers even really knows or understands what PARAFFIN is as it applies to petroleum based lubricants and distillates.

My rant is not directed at you personally; it just amazes me how inaccurate, untrue and the quantity of unfounded crap (internet noise) that becomes fact with absolutely no factual basis. Other than someone thought someone else sounded credible and then it spreads like wild fire.

Drives me nuts!

really, the 3 in one is bad? that sucks. the instructions for the deck recommended "household oil". I figured I was doing good!.. ****.

have no fear. That is precisely what was called for by the manufacturers.
I have used it, monthly, for quite a while. It causes no problems. Just keep the amount used each month small. A few drops is all you need.

Wikipedia says 3-in-1 Oil is citronella oil.

No it doesn't.

This is what it DOES say:

"The formula consists of pale spindle oil with a small amount of corrosion inhibitor and citronella oil (which gives the product its distinctive sharp odor). It remains a popular lubricant for bicycle chains."
