I repeat myself. Replaying records from the last few weeks, now that I have a proper way of cleaning them. I paid good money ($10) for this one used and it had a stick on side one that I think I've gotten rid of. In any event, cleaning made an already decent sounding album a bit better.

Getting some 80's top 40's/Soul on with this one

Question: while this isn't universally true, I notice the very beginnings of records tend to be noisier than, say, 4-5 minutes in. I wonder why: is it people playing the first few and then deciding against the album, moving on?

The lead in groove and the first track are what the previous owner put their dirty fingers on. Also, they may have hand-cued the stylus and not done a very good job every time.
