Miles Davis
"Kind of Blue"
1963 Columbia Repress
1xLP
The thrifting gods must have been smiling on me. This second pressing, in mono, was sitting at Goodwill for $2.99.
It also has all of the errors related to this pressing (according to Discogs):
Specific to this version:
• On front and back jacket: Julian "Cannonball" Adderley is misspelled "Adderly".
• On the back jacket: "4" printed in lower right corner.
• On the back jacket: Tracks B1 and B2 reversed but are in correct order on label.
• On the labels: No "CBS" in small black letters under "Columbia" at the top.
• On the labels: "Kind Of Blue" is on a single line, in bold font and "Miles Davis" is beneath on a single line, in a slim font.
• On the labels: The track titles are center justified.
It was super dusty when I got it, which caused a lot of noise in the first play, but after a cycle in the Spin Clean, it sounds great! Side A has some noise, nothing distracting, and Side B sounds great! Hopefully a few more cleans will make an affect.
I do have the mono and stereo copies that were released for RSD in the early 2010s, but this is a real mono version. Just for reference, this is a two-eye, not a six-eye pressing.
I never thought I would own such an early pressing in mono, none the less, so I'm grateful to have this.

Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Canadians.
Why is Canadian Thanksgiving early?
The simple reason is because harvest in Canada is earlier than that of our American cousins.
The first time a meal of giving thanks celebrated anywhere in North America was on July 1, 1576. Martin Frobisher looking for a northwest passage to the far east anchored in what is today named Frobisher Bay (Baffin Island) in his honour. His ship's chaplain had the crew celebrate a meal of thanks for finding safe anchorage. If any of you have ever been to the Canadian high arctic (even in summer it is bitter cold, desolate, and unforgiving) it isn't hard to understand why such an event was celebrated.
Obviously modern Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday in October in this country and later still in America.
Thanksgiving here is typically celebrated from coast to coast to coast with turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, and any mix of vegetables usually carrots and corn or green beans. A glass of white wine and pumpkin pie is often part of the meal. My meal today was delicious I'll add.
Edit: For dessert we also enjoyed the most Canadian and most delicious delicacy...Nanaimo Bars!
