What speaker cables should I buy?

Throughout history, science has been a constantly moving goal post. And science has never been able to overcome the realities of human senses and subjectivity, which are key components of the audio world.

- I have yet to see the most important tip I’ve learned over the years…when preparing to terminate your wires ALWAYS lick away from sharp end.
- Seriously though, I tend to use red/black 14 or 12 gauge copper strand with soldered ends or whatever terminator needed for the application at hand.

I'd say it's more like science has never been able to overcome the reality of human irrationality, which is a huge factor in all aspects of life, not just audio.
 
I own Morrow cables. They have everything from entry level to crazy expensive. The #3 and 4 are the sweet spots in my opinion.
Never pay full price. They always have sales going on.
eBay can sometimes get you a good deal on them also.

Yes, about to pull the trigger on a couple of cables, a longy and a shorty, probably SP3 or 4. but now, I am uncertain as to whether get the standard cables or the 'bi-wired' I talked with the principal there the other day, and he told me something that I wanted to confirm with others.

Bi-wired being cables that go from a left and right banana plug to four banana plugs for 'biwiring'. in order for this to be effective, the two pairs of jacks on a speaker would have to go to separate portions of the crossover circuitry, not just the regular input, correct? He told me this is in fact how the speakers are wired, thus the need for the jumpers when using a standard cable. I always thought the four jacks on a speaker were for 'bi-amping,' 1 amp to drive the woofers, and one for the mids & tweeters. I've never done it, or known anybody who has; and the recommendation I've always heard was don't waste your time, more trouble than it's worth.

So, how exactly are the two different pairs of connections on a speaker -that has them- connected to and through the crossover? Has anybody done this? And what can you tell me about the results?

Really not sure what you’re asking.
Speakers with 4 connections are for bi wiring. You can do a jumper across the connections and use a standard speaker wire, or you can remove the jumper and get bi wire cables that have 4 connectors.
I always got bi wire cables for my speakers that had 4 connections.

The crossover is two separate filters. One for the bass and one for mid/high. They get jumpered together for a normal connection, jumpers removed for biwiring.

In my B&Ws, the blue and black wires are jumpered and the brown and red are jumpered. The blue and brown wires go to the bass filter, and red and black go to the mid/high filter/crossover.

Yea, I knew all that, I just didn't know that four binding post speakers tapped different portions of the crossover different portions of the crossover, or anything about this wiring mode wiring mode called biwiring.
 
Morrow Speaker Cables eval. I bought these the week before I went out of town for the 4th (two SP3 bi-wired cables 2.5 and 6.5 meters) and that gave him time to burn them in -as I recall he had some evidence for his minimum break-in time.

It was a fair amount of work to change out my cables along with time required to move and vacuum down there while everything was accessible.

But, I believe it was worth it. Obviously no way to do an A/B comparison, so it's TOTALLY subjective. But my Boston Acoustic T-1030s just sound 'crisper', which I guess means brighter/sharper in the upper-mids and highs. And it seems like the sound might just have a bit more punch. I even took my graphic equalizer and dBx unit out of the loop, thinking that might be the cause and it still sounds a bit brighter and cleaner. Call me a satisfied customer.
