What speakers to get for system

Hey Experts and hobbyists- I was looking for some input on potential speaker purchases. I can scoop up a pair of AR 4x speakers or KLH model six. I am torn between the two; I am not sure which speaker would be best matched with my current system. open to any other suggestions as well. I normally play at lower levels, but like having the option to turn it up a bit on occasion.

If you have a Dynaco Stereo 35 you have a very rare amplifier. At ~17WPC a Stereo 35 should be able to drive either pair of speakers to reasonable level in small to medium sized room.

Get both sets, they're both superb. If you can't hang onto one, A/B them for a while and settle on one. My opinion of course, I love them both.

Thanks Joe. After reviewing the two vintage speakers in question I see that my amp should not have any issues driving them. My dilemma is which would be best matched. Perhaps I can grab the two and test them both out. It should be noted that both sets are in original state and working, but unclear as to any work I may need to preform on either.

They all may require recap and redope for the cloth surrounds. The KLH Six might have a slight edge in sound because of its better tweeter (IMO again) and bigger woofer. I may get flamed for my sacrilege saying something could be better than AR, but just sayin'...

thanks Altec.I've tested the KLH with my amp, however it was run with another pre-It sounds great, although I cannot recall how affective the base was

i have heard all good about ar4 or 4x..but an 8 inch woofer scares the way i like things loud,my ar2ax,s will go way loud enough,an you cant lose on a model 6 klh thats just right if you like loud,an beautiful pure at the same time,i just cant trust an 8 inch woofer with my loud deep purple decibels though i know there acoustic research and gotta be killer.................model 6 is kinda actually a 12 inch......

If the 6 is the older version (with the speaker controls on the back of the box, instead of recessed inside the box), recapping is a more arduous project, so that may be a consideration
