What speakers?

Hi all.
I just have the itch for some different speakers. I currently have JBL 100s, Phase Technolog 9t and Advent Legacies. Looking for something that has more headroom and depth of sound. power sources: Project One Mark 1500, Project One Mark IC, Hafler 200 amp, Sherwood 7200. Sound sources: Rega P2 tt, and NAD C 542 cdp. Am looking to spend $300-400. Anybody having any ideas about where I might go and what Components I match up?

Thanks,
M Beigh

There's just such a long list. A couple I like that you might check out are any of the big ADS speakers and any of the big EPI/Genesis speakers. But ya know, that's just what I like. In that price range you could get into a pair of Polk SDAs- they're a lot of fun if you like them (I do).

Take care,

Ed

Thinking about it, you could probably build yourself a super kicking pair of speakers for the price range you are stating if you are willing to get your hands dirty.

What kind of music do you like?

Klipsch Fortes might be possible if you find a bargain set. Smaller Altecs like Madrids or Santanas are also possible. And you never know when someone is going to give you a chance at a score on something special. That price range is where I bought my Infinity RSIIb's. Needed some foam, but so what?

Guess it depends on how patient you are and if you're willing to spend a lot of time keeping an eye on CL....

Ya I was about to say something with clean horns in them like LaScalas, Bigger JBL's (Summits!), possible EV's or "poor mans" SpeakerLabs Super 7's. You will get definition and efficientcy....usually at a $$$- more than the $400 you would like to spend. But maybe find them needing some work and get a bargin!
