In the years looking at the thrifts, I've never found any Tannoy speakers. Until this mourning. At first I thought they were Cerwin Vegas when I first spotted them. Pulled off the grills, No, these were no Vegas. They had no markings. Looked them over, no labels. I decided to check the bottom. Several places on the bottom was branded with Tannoy, yes looked burned in. No mention of any model. Anyone seen these anywhere else.

Pics are fine...never seen Tannoys like that though, and none of the drivers looks very Tannoy-ish.

My guess is that they're a rather nice DIY job, using some original Tannoy cabinets. Since Tannoy put their very nice and expensive drivers in small, cheap cabinets back in the 70s, it's common for people to build their own cabinets and sell the originals. Someone probably picked up a pair of cabinets and filled it with their own design.

I managed to pull a midrange out, the woofer would not budge. Yes, it is a Focal mid. I assume the woofs are, too. Hooked them up and they didn't sound bad. But, They are not Tannoy. :tears: Who ever built them did a jam up job. Used very heavy gauge wiring inside.

Too bad they aren't Tannoys, but if those mids are the same ones that are in my Condors, and it appears as though they are (just pulled a grill to check mine), then you have a set of very nice drivers on your hands. I wouldn't be too disappointed knowing that :thmbsp:

My guess is Focal 10K515 woofer, Focal 5K013 or 5K4211 mid, and Focal T120K tweeter... or something very close to that. The models I named there, are pretty much the most common ones in their sizes with Kevlar cone materials, made by Focal...

Regards,
Gordon.
