What to do with a Sansui G-7700?

I have a Sansui G-7700 sitting here that doesnt work. It turns on, tuner changes stations, but I dont get any sound out of any speaker or headphones.
I do NOT know how to work on these things and while I realize that this is one great receiver I dont really know if I want to even get it fixed. Mostly because I dont know anyone who could do this not do I want to spanr lots of money fixing it. So, I was thinking to sell it, but its HUGE and HEAVY and to ship it would be problematic. Which makes me think again to look into fixing it. So, what would you do?

I'd try to find a reputable shop to take it to for an estimate. Let us know where you are and I'm sure somebody will chime in with possible shops in your area.

Most shops charge a non refundable estimate/diagnostic fee so be sure to ask what it is before taking it in. The shop in my area charges $35.00 but most are probably more than that.

If the cost to repair is more than you're willing to spend, sell it and let the buyer know what the shop said needs to be done. The older Sansui's are at premium prices now, even needing repair.
 
Looks like it is not coming out of protection - the small green Safely Operate light on the front panel should be on. Do you hear a slight click about 5 seconds after turning it on?

It is definitely worth getting it checked out before you consider selling it.
 
IMO it would be a shame to not get that repaired. The cosmetic condition appears to be vey nice, and it's a very nice looking piece. I guess it all breaks down to the value vs cost to repair though.

I was referring to the news that Krosya cannot find someone to repair it for him. His loss IMHO. If he were close enough I'd be glad to take a look at it. You never know when a fix can be simple, but the F-2980 board is a tricky beast.

I meant as opposed to parking it in a closet or garage or throwing it away.

Fixing it would be nice but good vintage techs are hard to come by.
