What to do with the voice coil?

Hi,
Recently acquired a pair of Infinity RSa speakers. The surrounds need replaced as is customary for speakers of this age. Sadly, this is not the first time the surrounds have been "repaired" or replaced.

The current surround is glued to the outside of the cone. I see a clear goop (silicone maybe), a white substance (glue or what??) holding this surround to the cone. On the innside lip there is a band of the original glue on the inner surface of the cone. The outer ring on the frame shows the mentioned glues/stuff and another substance - a black goop like butyl.

In addition, the center cap fell off when turning the speaker over. I tell you this to tell you about the issue. While cleaning the frame small particles dropped in between the cone and the voice coil.

Also, discovered a bit of corrosion inside the dust cap area.

I've got most of the debris out by turning the speaker over and applying a 50Hz tone. The cone is moving nicely now but does catch every now and then.

My question is, do I attempt to remove the corrosion?
Should I apply a small amount of lube to the cone/voice coil area to ease movement?

I've used isopropyl to clear out a coil gap before. Got some old sticky foam out of a dynaudio woofer for me. This assumes that it is catching debris and not an alignment issue. A physical rub is a totally different thing and should be fixed. This is after I was assured that the iso wasn't going to damage any of the adhesives used. Don't submerge it, I used a bottle with a needle applicator to flush the spot

Lube is not the solution.

Sadly, the cones are damaged past the point of repair. Too much goop (silicone and glue) on the backside of the cones to allow the cones to move properly. Sad but someone did not understand how to repair the surrounds.
