What to pay for RS-4b

Found a pair of minty, 1 owner RS-4b for sale for $425 and wondering if this is a fair price in Seattle or other similar metro area? They are in pristine shape and recently refoamed. I plan to audition them with my Cambridge AXR100 if the price sounds fair. This is very near the top of my budget. They will be replacing a pair of Infinity Primus 250 that were my home theater mains before I got into 2 channel and honestly aren’t too bad. I have a nice Paradigm 15” sub, too, but hoping it won’t be necessary with my next set of boxes.

Welcome to AK ! Anything about value should be posted in the dollar and sense forum . I am sure it will be taken care of . Cheers

They are in the middle price range. Seen some for 300.00 needing work, and up to 650.00 not needing anything. If they are the ones i found online, they do look nice. Are you auditioning at your place, or sellers?

By source do you mean your amp, or your music?
I've done both. Back in the day took my favorite records, and later cd's to audition prospective new gear. I took recordings I was very familiar with. When I was considering buying my Infinity RS II's I took one of my amps to see it had enough power/current to properly run them.

As for price, if they are indeed "pristine", have all original and working drivers, and recently refoamed woofers then $425 isn't a bad price. IMO.

Added--the RS 4b have the polydomes that DO NOT yellow, get hard and crack. Just in case you've seen mention of Infinity polydome issues. There were two different styles of polydomes.
The kappa series polydomes do have those issues.

I had a pair of those several years ago and I had a heck of a time selling them (I think I ended up parting them out). They just don't get the love that the RS-IIIb (and larger Infinities) does.
Unless they are truly mint I would want to be closer to $350.

The grills should be in good shape (with emblems) and attach properly, there should be no blemishes in the drivers (the woofer dustcaps should be a pretty open mesh, if they're solid then they were replaced with something generic when the drivers were refoamed), and all of those wooden ribs around the edges of the cabinets should have clean corners top and bottom.

Thank you

its worth a try but that amp wont like the impedance ranging. It will run hot. We ran 200 watts of Mcintosh and even that seemed lite
It says it’s stable to 4 ohms, and assume by the rule it’ll push 200w at 4ohms. They spec on them is 4-8 ohms 40-150w. I hope I’m ok. Going to give them an extended listen on my gear to make sure.

Well, I got them and they thump. No issues driving them w my amp - plenty of good clean high power. Bass is beautiful - I’ll probably ditch my subwoofer. And they are gorgeous to boot. Thanks everyone!!

Cool, I hope you'll enjoy them.
It was smart taking your amp.
.If you have not noticed, there's a dedicated Infinity subforum here at AK. Bunch of smart and experienced folks concerning Infinitys in there. In case you have any questions, issues, or just want to talk about Infinitys. There's a thread for posting your Infinity speakers, in case you feel like posting pictures of your new speakers.

Yeah I’ve s seen that forum and read up extensively on these exact speakers after I found them on OfferUp. Probably would not have been in my radar if not for the AK community.
