What Vintage Speakers Would You Buy If Money Were No Object?

Double pair of Dayton-Wright XG-10 electrostats. Nelson Pass used to demo his Threshold electronics at shows with them. :)

Very stimulating question. If I were an Altec fan I would by the latest drivers from Great Plains Audio and build my own enclosures. A Tannoy fan I would want Westminsters currently produced. JBL DD67000s, or an updated Paragon from the 70's. If I were looking at Mcintosh speakers I'd have to go back a generation or two for the XR 290. For Magico their current Best. Snell back a generation. AR would mean going way back. If I were buying Klipschorn or Cornwalls I'd have to go back, because I prefer the old T-35 tweeter and the older crossovers. But I would want the latest mid and LF drivers. Bozaks would require additional super tweeters and tri-amping. Ev-6 would require an updated woofer and bi-amping. I really like the original B&W 800 Matrix, the latest ones are a little shrill for me. I like the latest Quads, much prefer the older multi paneled Magnepans. If you want to shake a structure with clean bass stack pairs of Mcintosh ML-4's with todays big power. Say 3 pair and 1200 watts per stack. Thats about 120 db at 16 hz. Stacking 3 pairs of AR-3A run with 2 Mcintosh 3500's was great sound. I have always wanted to hear Steinway-Lyngdorf loudspeakers .

I have been hankering for a pair of JBL L100 Century's. I think they are beautiful eye candy and sonic nirvana.

Beveridge. I think the Ones, that looked like coffins and faced each other. With what Harold called bass commodes. Back in the late 70's heard them at the IHF show in Atlanta. Sonic-ally blew everything at the show away. Not the loudest though. Not meant to be. Made me go home and sell my Altec 19's and buy some Koss model 1a stats. I could afford those being I sold Koss products. Got them for half off list.

If money was no problem, ever again. I'd have a live band playing on the beach somewhere warm. Under a thatched cabana with a drink with a umbrella and fruit in it!

Just saynnnnn!

Hey that's a great idea Barney.
But, it's gotta be a vintage band!

Jimfet, there was only one... one. Harold Beveridge made the first model one as his prototype, the first commercial Beveridge speaker was the Model 2 and the model with the two subs was the 2SW. You are on the other side of Charlotte from me, but if you are ever up for a drive, you are welcome to take a listen of my Model 3 and 5.

As for this thread, I pretty much already have my pinnacle speakers, but I would love to hear the Tannoy Westminster.
