What would be the 'best' Sansui amplifier for sound quality?

I certainly have the desire. I'm really seriously thinking about it.

I really do like & enjoy my X901, it does suit me just fine. It's perfect for my needs.

But... I do know what I'm missing. The 907MR would be super fine. Bet it sounds wonderful.

I've been reading all the posts that you guys are posting about the alphas... I know you guys are all absolutely right!!

I sure would like one! :)

What about a nice shiny traditionally black colour for the Alpha...?!?

Question is, how many of these later Alpha amps were offered in black? Not many that I've ever seen. And concerning those wood side panels on the 907MR pictured above...ouch. Kind of like a pretty girl with a ratty manicure; it's just not right to go out in public like that.

The X901 is a damn good amp though! Unfortunately I never got the opportunity to directly compare the 907MR with my X701, but I wouldn't imagine there to be an enormous gulf in sonic performance between them.

That said... the 907MR is damn sexy for a non-black-face Sansui ;)

I gather the black versions of these amps are particularly rare, as the overwhelming majority I've ever seen were the champagne color. And even the champagne finish models aren't all that common, most having been fairly limited production.

The fact there are some black panel units around at least gives one the option of better matching the popular legacy Sansui gear that was made only in black, if integrating with other older equipment.

The AU-07 Anniversary model in black.

Stunning!!!!

I want to be an Alpha man myself. I am really agnostic as to brand or era - as long as I can get something resembling early era Sansui sound, but with gobs of clean speedy power. Here I buy into Kevins premise that technology has not stood still. Having said that, until I find a decent specimen, I'll be perfectly happy with my 777a and 505 for THAT sound and if I need a bit more muscle, the 999 comes very close.

I'll have to ask Pete_Mac if there is some ritual or hazing period have to go through in order to become an Alpha man. Pete ?

I made yotoba wood bacon to 907MR
I also made of merbau and olives :) It's better than the veneer

AU-07 produced 437 pieces of which 43 black ... I had 9 pieces black at home and 19 silver ...

Jomark once wrote that B2301 is the best sansui. Today I agree with this but in the L version! B2302 is not the same ... It's based on 907DR and "slimmed down"

C2301 - for sale :)
For now, I check, clean and service all and then set. When I'm done, I'll give you contact to the seller!

I left one B2301L to myself.
I modified it slightly (I upgraded more :) Now it's the best amplifier I've ever heard :) There are three modified B2301 (2 in Poland and 1 in Denmark). They really make an impression!

Greetings ! czubsi

Pawel, do you have photos of the new side panels? I'm very interested to see them!
