What's all this about Lenco?

I tried posting this earlier but it hadn't appeared so forgive meet if it comes up twice.

I have the chance of a Lenco 75 and don't mind putting some work into it though it allegedly functions perfectly and comes with original arm. My question is this - id's it hype or is it a great TT.

No hype, great TT. I own two of them plus a lot of spare parts.

You'll need to do some modifications to put it at a high level, though. Basically (1) replacing the stock plinth with a massive one, (2) making sure everything is correctly cleaned/lubed/adjusted, including that the idler wheel is true, (3) replacing the arm with a high quality arm (You can also use the stock arm if you service properly, though. It is not bad sounding.)
 
I also have 2 of them, both with stock arms but I have a couple of options available to me...the sky's the limit. They're pretty easy to work on as well. Go for it.
 
I just bought two of them myself. One I'm leaving all stock and the other will get all the bells and whistles. Have not spun a record on them yet but it will happen very soon. :thmbsp:
 
I will concur, a great table. I have just obtained a L75/S, this is the one with Jelco "S" type arm. I have re-lubed the bearing, grounded the motor and top plate through a 3 pin plug. Put in new rca cables, this got rid of hum. Spent today packing the plinth with plasticene. At present putting it through its paces using a HH Scott 320R receiver and a pair of Minimus 7W speakers. Will be moving into the man cave replacing a Pioneer 115D tt.
 
Great tables, here's mine. It's still a work in progress. I have an Applied Fidelity "super bearing" here for it. In this shot I was just doing a dry fit for the 12", 9" arms and top plate.

Why is your idler wheel red?

Also, the motor is looking way too near to the top plate! Are you sure you have removed the transport screws?
 
The transport screws I'm leaving in until everything is ready, I don't want it flopping around while I'm messing around. This is only a dry fit, the holes for the arms aren't completely drilled through yet, the bearing isn't installed and I still have to wire the switch/motor.

The red idler wheel is a custom made wheel, I kept the original NOS one as a back up. These red ones can be purchased from Norbert on Lencoheaven.
