What's wrong with my Pioneer SA-9100?

Hi there.

I was extremely lucky enough some months to ago pick up a SA-9100 at a fleamarket for 6$ (thats right! holy cow, only six bucks!) and it worked wonderfully until yesterday, where it suddenly died in the middle of Deep Purples "Wasted Sunsets". That was kind off adding insult to injury ;-)

Now, I got some experience in electronics, I got the tools and I got the schematics. I think I just need a pointing finger from more experienced people, as where to start looking for the fault.

Here the symptoms: Relay doesn't kick in. Protection light goes briefly on, then fades out and die.

I'll greatly appreciate any pointing fingers :-)

First thing I would do is check for DC on the speaker terminals. That might not actually prove anything if there are relays disconnecting the terminals in the event of a problem, but I'd check anyway.
Then you'll probably have to dive in and get serious. You have the circuit diagrams, so that's a big help. Check for DC offset before the relays.

Welcome to AK.

I would start by finding a copy of the service manual, and checking the DC offset and bias. Also, the pioneer section may get a little more traffic from the pioneer experts. Good luck!
