What's your preferred radio station(s)?

99pluskfmh.com. Also known as "The Pirate FM".
Based in Iowa City, Iowa. Has lots of alternative music.
88.3 KCCK is an excellent jazz station with some blues thrown in on the weekends. They're at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
I stream both of these often.

WCLV FM (Cleveland, OH). Classical and Jazz overnight. They feature / promote the Cleveland orchestra (daily) which is a great bonus (to us).

On all day here (usually multiple systems).....

Can stream it and their "sister" stations....

For now its 103.1 the Wave. Started out as a 80's New Wave station but have expanded their programming to include other types. Got really tired of the classic rock stations. Gotten to hear and discover a lot of music/artists that I was not as familiar with when this music was current. Wish I could find a good Jazz station where I live though.

Today I stream WQXR from New York 8 to 10 hours a day. Either their New Standards Channel or their Classical Channel. Being its close to Christmas i also listen to their Holiday channel that plays Christmas music with more of a classical flavor with very little pop mixed in. I also listen to our to College station. KQRD FM and KTEP FM. on a tuner believe it or not. But most of the time its just easier and the quality is better by streaming the two stations. better signal to noise is the main benefit.

WBGO, jazz at its best out of Newark, college stations WFDU and WFUV, and yup: WQXR, still incredible via Fisher 500-C.

Ah yes, the way to enjoy music without having to pay for a monthly premium. Especially Digital radio (unless it's SiriusXM). Vwestlife's video on this topic is represented greatly:

But what we're here to speak of (during this brain-melting scorble snorbbler crap) is what kinda radio we listen to. I, Myself listen to a lot of Digital radio nowadays. But sometimes I just like to see what I can capture on the Analog side. And when I do listen to radio, it's either with this heavy metal/hard rock screechery noise crap: Listen to Hang10RockRadio on Radio Garden: https://radio.garden/listen/hang10rockradio/P7iPbbxF

Or just Vibin' with ye olde' RCA Victor Record-playin' radio station I just found and find to cherish a bit too much. Of course it has to be in the middle of nowhere :rflmao:

But what if I'm not in the mood for either of those stations? Take simply, I'll snatch one of these
Listen to 1490 KBZY-AM on Radio Garden: https://radio.garden/listen/-1490-kbzy-am/qKl6xhMq

Plus you can listen to it while you're waiting in line for a Deluxe burger, Milkshake and Animal style fries at the newly opened In-N-Out in Keizer, Oregon! (We've been there a few times, worth waiting the few hours in line)

I also bought a T-shirt from the same location as well.

What did you pull that tuner from? I don’t really have an interest in OTA stations in my area, but I would going through the procedure for peaking the reception on something like that.

We’re based in the UK, but listen to Jazz24 who are based in Seattle, in the USA.

We stream it on the phone when we’re on holiday, driving the van and streaming it at home.

One of the things that we like is that it is commercial free with only the legally required identifier at the top of each hour. Usually, there’s no presenter, but occasionally there is. We have found ourselves listening to a greater number of artistes after first hearing them on Jazz24.

Twice a year they have a fund raising appeal for support and have been a monthly supporter for a couple of years now. Hopefully, my little amount, along with a number of others will keep them going for some time.

If you like Jazz, it is well worth a listen.

DG…

They have two streams. One I assume is high-def (the default) and the other is an MP3 stream. In this millennium, I wonder who would choose MP3?

Back when I lived in New York's Hudson Valley, it was Radio Woodstock, 100.1 WDST.

It's one of the few true alternative stations that's managed to stay independent over the years, largely by leaning on their "Woodstock" namesake and branching into hosting concerts (they put on the very popular Mountain Jam festival every year.) They also run on a hybrid commercial/pledge model, so tend to have limited commercial interruption. You can stream them on iHeartRadio, which they seem to be on through a contract.

In the Madison, Wisconsin area, the interesting one I found is 89.9, WORT FM.

They're an NPR / Democracy Now affiliate during certain hours, but much of their broadcast time is blocks made up by small time locals. It's almost like a college station but more well defined. They're volunteer run; as far as I know, you can just walk in and pitch any radio block you want to the board of directors, and there's a good chance they'll put it on their schedule. They stream live and archive their shows, so it's a good way to get a grand mix of eclectic music. They are completely donation supported as far as I know.

It’s actually an integrated amp, not a tuner.

It’s a Pilot amp, I think the model number is PT-1025 or something I have a thread up on it I’ll tag you in. It was pulled from a turntable. It has an auxiliary and single external binding posts for an external speaker. I can switch from the on board speakers (not connected) to running both at the same time (mono not stereo). Also has an rca Bypass so I can use different preamps with it. Id give my left arm for another one, they don’t show up often. SQ is amazing.

I see now. I went back and took a closer look. Yes two of those would make a great dual mono setup!

Thanks for the link!

In car or @Home, FM is my main listening. Why? Too much music. Too hard for me to choose. Found myself playing the same junk over and over. FM is like a jukebox for me.
And i gushily enjoy physically interacting with the Pioneer TX-9800.

WCPE - Classical - OTA and streaming
THAT Station - hippiesh, crunchier alt/folk music? - OTA and s
NPR
WKNC - NC State radio - OTA and s -- very diverse depending on the hour
95.3 The BEAT - throwback hiphop, Shawtie - OTA and s
some station in Fayettenam(ville) that plays mild-to-medium metal from past n present - OTA n ?

RadioGarden.com for occasional streaming. got addicted to listening to Dublin traffic reports. /shrug I've never been to Ireland.
