Last Tuesday morning while I was getting ready to go to work, the power went off at my house. Not much of a big deal, as I have a natural gas fired whole house generator. I called it in to the power company and continued my morning ritual. As I headed out, I found out why.
You can see where the interior of the base of the tree was rotten, and without the assistance of any wind, the tree fell. When it fell, it broke the primary power line, which caused a fire when the "hot" end hit the ground. The local VFD once again did a fine job of preventing a bigger disaster as well as clearing the tree from the utility lines.
Here's a hearty helping of praise for our volunteer firefighters!
