I suggest you get your information from more than just one source unless you care to be just another lemming fed by controlled media.

Unlike you, I and your other elders lived thru the times and saw firsthand his policies IN ACTION.

Here's a story about him and people of color.....a poor black woman sent a letter to the White House in which she bemoaned the fact that she couldn't afford a TV. He somehow was told of this and arranged for her to be sent one.

She then wrote back and complained that it wasn't color.

He then had it taken away. I suppose you'll think this backs up your claims, but I think it shows that he had compassion but wasn't willing to be played for a fool, unlike 99% of today's liberals.

What I was referring to was the the use of the phrase "sick of seeing his face". I totally agree with you that the media once again has gone off the deep end in its coverage, just like they do with everything these days (Michael Jackson for instance, now that’s a face I'm sick of seeing!). It just hit me wrong and I reacted.

I apologize to all for getting a debate started here. That was not my intent and I feel sure it was also not Grump’s. Let's let it end and just agree that there will always be differing opinions about JFK, and most other public figures.

There is nothing about me that resembles a lemming. If you knew me maybe like some of the others here you would know I watch next to NO TV since its about as worthless as tits on a bull.

I read voraciously. I supplement that with occasional shows on history such as the history channel and such. My remarks about being tired of seeing "His Face " were just that. I never said he was a Bad person or otherwise.

I am well aware of the names used during WWII. Nearly my entire family was wiped out during that time. My grandmother and Grandfather were the only ones from that side of my family to make it out to make it out of Berlin alive. On my fathers side we lost a lot of family in the Ghettos of Poland

As for being older making anyone wiser thats a bunch of phooey and buying someone a TV is not a very convincing story. Why not give that person a Job so they can buy it them self ?

This thread has steered way off topic and I am guilty of that. For that I apologize.

We can all agree to disagree.

And yes I do believe in the tooth fairy. I plan on taking her out to dinner in a few moments

Dave made a statement that I thought was well, thoughtless but in no way did I interpret his original remark as an attack on the man or his legacy. I took it pretty much as he later explained, nothing more, nothing less. We all say and do things that we would later choose not to be associated with. And in this particular case I don't feel any apology or explaination is owed. Of course, in this respect I only speak for myself. I have nothing more to add to this subject.

I don't know why they called it Camelot, but an American dream did end in Dallas that day. If someone wasn't around to see the mystique and excitement generated by that administration, and the adoration of a loving public, it's easy to figure "What's the big deal?"

Grumpy's first statement wasn't so bad. To tell you the truth, I would've said the same thing about Princess Diana. I got sick of the whole affair. Doesn't mean I hated her.

Wow, great comparison as that struck home. Her death also smacks of conspiracy and received huge press coverage. As Grumpy grumped, I too became weary of all of it. It's all a matter of what your perspective is and perhaps the way one expresses themselves and how others interpret your comments.

The history channel will start showing in SA as part of the DSTV package from the first of next month. This will hopefully augment the current actuality channels we have (Nat. Geo, Discovery, Animal Planet etc.) I Arrived 10 Years too late for kennedy, but I watched a Documentary on Air Force 1 on Nat. Geo where they touched on the events. Hope to see more on this in future.

One thing is for sure.. everytime I watch the events of 9/11, where those fire men run UP INTO the burning buildings, unselfish with no regard for their own safety, the wife and I just sit there holding each other crying. I hope that we will never forget those men and woman.

If my child should ever ask me what bravery is, I will show him those tapes.

I was 7 yrs old,There was no snow as of yet that year,I was outside playing when my mother told me the news.I had no idea of the man but I knew he was special.
We watched coverage on the RCA B+W,all the neighbors came to our place to watch.
And yes,I believe Lee Harvey Oswald did not act alone.

We Canadians had only one assaination,that of D'Arcy McGee,he was a Member of Parliament in the 1800's.
We do however have a lot of Drive-By Shoutings
