Which cartridge to use?

Hi, All! After decades of being inactive with my stereo gear, I have re-surfaced with some semi-ancient equipment which was stored and a new Onkyo A-9010 integrated amp. The older equipment includes two Tannoy 15" Monitor Golds in large custom made cabinets, a pristine Technics SL-23 turntable (which was hardly ever used) fitted with a Shure M91ED cartridge.

I also located an Ortofon 15 SLE with transformer and a Shure V15 Type III in the back of a closet. So, I would appreciate suggestions re which one of the three to mount. Frankly, I don't want to go through the hassle of individually mounting each one for evaluation! Yeh, I'm a bit lazy.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the AK turn table forum.

Stick with the tried and true Technics SL-23 turn table and its faithful Shure M91ED cartridge.

Save the other cartridges and accessory for another day.

Enjoy! :music:

Thanks very much for the prompt and knowledgeable reply!

On the other hand for the time it takes to change a cartridge and reset the tracking force you may think about listening to the other 2 cartridges and decide which one sounds best for your ears. While doing that you will be enjoying the vinyl along the journey.
cartridges are like beer, they all taste different to everybody and one mans favorite just isn't to another person. What have you got to lose?

I have 3 headshells for my Technics with different cartridges mounted. Easy enough to change and evaluate. There are some after market ones pretty cheap. BTW, I keep coming back to the Shure M75 which is the same as your M91 with different plastic.

Really appreciate everyone's thoughts and time responding. And of course, everyone is right!

It's been many years since I immersed myself in this world. Over time I've owned a ton of Acoustical Quad gear, Marantz tube stuff, Gale speakers, a Thorens TD124 and Garrard 301s, a couple of SME arms, Ortofon SPU-GTE and Decca cartridges...well, you know, the 'real deal' - but having disposed of almost everything except for four (4) 15-inch Tannoys (two in the living room and two in my office.)

With regard to the cartridges I still have, I think I will stick with the Shure M91ED in the Technics SL-23 arm, save the Shure V15-III and sell the Ortofon. So, should I sell the SL-15E separately or with the STM 72 transformer?
