Which do I have? A Harman Kardon 330B B-1 or a Harman Kardon 330B B-2 ?

This thread is to help anyone determining if their Harman Kardon HK 330B is a B-1 series or a B-2 series. While both are labeled as "330B", the schematics, components and internal layouts are quite different. If you're recapping your 330B or diagnosing some problem, you'll want to know which you have before you start poking components or ordering replacements.

There is some simple, mostly-works advice that tells the difference based on serial number. That works most of the time.

Beyond that, below we've gathered some images of the internals to help you visually identify which series you have.

The simple, almost-always-work method for determining if your Harman Kardon 330B is a B-1 series or a B-2 series is to look at the serial number on the rear panel.

• B-1 series - 330B with Production Code between 3345 and 4261 and Serial Numbers between 1001 and 16885 (the original 330B, made in Japan)
• B-1 series - 330B with Production Code of 4262 or higher and Serial Numbers of 16686 and higher with a suffix of "A" (330B's produced by Roland, made in Taiwan)
• B-2 series - 330B with 7 digit Serial Numbers between 7322984 and 7327986 (330A's re-badged as 330B's)

The "real" 330B units are called the "B-1 series" and the re-badged 330A units are called "B-2 series".
