which Dual do I keep??

I have the following both in great working shape and look great as well. Which should I unload and why??

Dual 701 or 1219

1219 has cool dustcover and plinth. Dustcover folds up similar to roll top desk and plinth has storage door for all accesories..

701 has original SM with it..

^^^ agreed but I also have 1019. Also I think 1219 would command more money. So maybe keep 701 and 1019. Have both idler and DD decks then.
 
They're called Dual for a reason, so you shouldn't have to make these decisions! Idler man myself, keep the xx19.
 
Whichever one it's easiest to find spare cartridge sleds for. Might as well set up a boatload of cartridges and take advantage of the ability to quickly change them.
Looks like a tossup. I'd go with the 1219. Wouldn't want to have some unobtainable electronic bit fail on an old direct drive.

The 1219-type turntable is my favorite, but the 701 is just as excellent. It has none of that magic 'idler sound', but is still a wonderful performer. As far as exotic electronic parts are concerned, I have never seen a 701 that should be trashed because of cooked exotic electronics components, thanks to that teeny-weeny fuse.
Because of where people's heads are, I get considerably more for a refurbished 701,compared to a refurbished 1219.

To the OP, keep both, unless you need the money.
 
Yeah but I also have the nice little 1019. Also the 1219 sleds are the same as 701. I have a few of those with carts on them to switch out from time to time. Just thinning herd. I have many tables.

The 701 has a much better rumble rating than the idler-wheel-driven 1219. FWIW, my Dad's had his 701 since 1974, and has only had the strobe light replaced.
 
Married to 1219s. Have 2 early and later versions. Once gone over they have been great. Got a nice “parts” unit of Eprey. Was missing the headshell. Found one at the dump! Bid on it for $100. Really thought I would get out bid at that price. Went through it. All was good til this week and the stuerpimple conked out. All three are nice cosmetically! Agree with above. The 1219 is mechanical with no electronics. Go with it.
