Which Dual should I get and why 3 options

I have a chance to get one of three dual turntables
1246 in mint condition (no dust cover) $95

1249 refurbished with dust cover (mint) $250

1264 mint condition $ 125

I already have a mint condition 1019, but wouldn"t mind having one of Dual's later offerings if they are worth it. Thanks for any input

Your 1019 is superior to all 3 of those later Duals in my opinion. I would put my resources elsewhere.

They all seem to be top dollar and unspectacular models; $250 for the 1249 is really optimistic. The 1264 has the ULM arm with special headshell and cartridge considerations that can get complicated.
Not that they are bad turntables, but for the prices quoted I would look elsewhere.

In the 1200 series Duals, you'd want to look for a 1219 or 1229/1229Q. With a little patience one can obtain either at less than the 3 you have listed. 701 mentioned above is another very fine recommendation from what I've read but I've not had one.

I just rebuilt a 1218 this week and it's a worthy table. The 1216 looks to be very similar.

I also have a 1212 -- inferior arm, inferior motor.

Check here for the full line-up. I would only go for the ones that have the tonearms with the round gimbal.

Thanks for all the responses....I may now just hold out and see what pops up later or CL.
My 1019 does have a hum that you cannot hear during play, but is noticable between tracks. Other than that it is a very nice turntable

Try cleaning the contacts on the headshell and where it meets the tonearm. Also, clean the mute switches that are up against the cam gear.

Let me join the crowd of people saying that the 1019 is probably better than the choices you are looking at.

I'll echo. If you 1019 is running correctly just stick with that. If you want a belt drive dual I would say hold out for a black vinyl CS5000 (not the wood finish as they are more pricey) as you can probably get one for not a lot more than the 250 you mention on the 1249.

That deck most like would be an improvement over the 1019 as it has a better arm and quartz control speed.
