Which is a better set-up? Yamaha's C85/M85 or the CX1000/CX1000?

I'm not a tech or spec guy, but I have a used Yamaha CX1000 and MX1000 that I've been sitting on for over ten years, but now I'm thinking of taking it out of storage and sending it out for a complete tune-up/clean-up. But!! I've always had a thing for the Yamaha C85/M85 that seems to never go away since first seeing it in the PX while stationed in Korea.

With that said, I was wondering what the Yamaha experts would think is the better "sound" investment... The CX1000/MX1000 or the C85/M85?

BTW, I'm still hoping to find a nice DBX-4 range expander to go with it, along with a newer Rega turntable to round out this set up.

Whatever set up I end up with, I'm hoping to have it completely rebuilt and cleaned up with the hope that it will last the next 20 years!!

Thank you for any thoughts you might have!!
