Which JBLs ?

Sweet! Glad it worked out for you. Take care of the 166's grilles...you would have a very hard time replacing them. Let us know what you think of both pairs once you get them settled in...enjoy.

Awesome JBL haul !'m a recent JBL convert myself, and would love to hear all of the L-150, L-166 and 4410. How would you compare the sound of the L-150 and L-166? And from your short time listening to the 4410, how who you describe it's sound? I'm personally always on the look out for speakers that I can both mix on, and enjoy music on (actually a harder feat to pull off than it might appear at first)

@Final_Baton
The 4410s sounded good, but were flatter sounding than the L150s. But I didn't listen to them very long or very loud. The 150s had my attention. Since they are monitors, they might be good for your "mixing" application. And in the 4410s defense, adjusting the brilliance/presence and throwing more juice to them would most likely bring them more to life. TBH, I lost interest in them almost immediately because the grilles had some cracks and tears in the fabric. I'll have to get back to you on the on the nuances of the L166s vs. L150s.

Maybe I can get some listening time in soon.

Have you seen this thread...you may be able to retire early...

Yeah I saw that quite a while back..he has/had 240Ti and 120Ti ads too spewing the same crap IIRC. Me..I'm just too stooopid to buy them according to him. :crazy: Not that I would give him the time of day to see if I was qualified enough. I'll have to remember that marketing technique if I go to sell something though..berate the hell out of your potential customers to buy your insanely over priced stuff! :rolleyes:

In case you're looking, I saw these on the bay.....

Wow..not cheap for sure. Thanks but I have the Ti series JBL's...my friend had the 166's in the mid 70's that we used to rock an old farm house with and I got spoiled with them. I just mentioned it because its not the type of grille you can just buy new cloth and bring them back to new. With the 166's..you wont find perforated, stamped aluminum designed like that to redo them...so they have to come from another 166 and finding them in good condition is a crap shoot. There is a pair of 166's on the bay now and what do they have..damaged grilles.

I saw a few more pairs on there. All had grilles that looked to be intact, but you're right, the intricate design of them would be impossible to mimic.
