Which of these speakers with a Marantz 2250?

Does anyone have an opinion which of these speakers would sound good with a Marantz 2250 for mostly classic rock?
1) Beovox S75 no photos $250
2) Advent, no grills $200
3) Infinity $75
4) Beovox S45-2 $200
5) Marantz SP1250 refoamed $65
6) Polk RT55 $175
7) Infinity RS 225 minty $40
I'm waiting to see if there are photos of the Beovox S75. I'm leaning toward them because I like the cabinet design, and the bass is supposed to be better than the S45-2 which one post has described as bright

Not sure where the mother ship is but all speaker prices see way way too high except the b&o. Advents are wrong non original woofers. Shame on the d bag asking 200 for them. It would offer 20.00 for them.

I thought they seemed high too when I saw what other people are paying, but it's hard to know if they're only posting when they get a great deal. I'm in Michigan, so it's not like I'm paying NYC or SF Bay prices. I'm hoping the S75's pan out, but he's using a photo from Beoworld instead of taking his own, so I'm not very optimistic. For that Marantz, my preference would be for the Polk, followed by the Infinity RS-225 (this one has an enclosure better than the other non-Infinity speakers), followed by the Infinity tower.

They'll beat everything on the list.
OLA, NLA, Pridogy, Legacy, Laureate, Maestro, Heritage.

Look for ADS too. Or Dahlquist or old JBL.

Spend 25.00 and become a member here which gives you access to barter town. Post a wtb speaker ad and state your location. You'll be flooded with options under 100 and there are tons of Akers in mi as it was founded there. Good luck.

the advents have replacement woofers. walk away.....of the speakers I tried on my 2230, my order from most to least favortite were: AR Holographic Imaging M5's, AR18's (the 18's with a passive sub tied the M5's) Smaller Advents, AR2ax and Realistic Mach 1's. all sounded very good with the marantz except the Mach 1's....the sound was too "dark"

where in SE MI are you? I'm over on the best coast, but my inlaws are in auburn hills....
there's some KLH model 6's on the detroit craigslist for $185, I'd check them out....

Thanks for all of the feedback. I found the KLH Model 6s. They look nice, but I really like the style of the B&Os. My furniture is mid-century modern Danish, so they fit in perfectly. I got photos of the S75s. They could use new grillcloth, but they seem to be in decent shape otherwise. Could I get grillcloth for them? The S45-2s are in better condition, but I read a post that mentioned that they're lacking in bass. I just offered $150 for the S45-2s. I tried to get the S75s for $200, but he's firm on the price ($250). I also found some Advent Graduates with new surrounds for $70, but I really like the style of the B&Os.

A factor that you may want to consider (as with ALL vintage gear) is the availability of parts/replacement drivers. No matter how well cared for, vintage gear is like a classic car--anything can fail at any time for no apparent reason. So buying something incredibly obscure can make finding replacement parts difficult. The flip side is that buying something incredibly popular can make parts more readily available, but outrageously expensive. Not knocking vintage in any way--all of my gear (other than a couple DACs) is all vintage gear--just another factor to add into the equation.

I also appreciate your focus on aesthetics. That is what has driven me toward vintage gear, and away from "modern" gear/speakers--speakers especially. Give me my beautiful wood cases or end panels, and real wood veneered speaker cabinets. Most of the modern stuff I wouldn't want to look at in my home (even if it did sound great).

I'd go with the Beovox 45's. They are great looking (like all B&O gear) and probably sound better than the 75's. Add a high quality sub or two later if you find the lack of bottom bothersome.

Thanks. I thought I might get hammered for considering the aesthetics. If the S45-2 sounds better than the S75, I'll definitely get those. I'm just waiting to see if they'll take my offer. They've been on cl for over a month. Thanks for the advice

In the early 70s I had The Advent Loudspeaker in walnut (bullnose) with B&Os(can't remember model) stacked on top. The Advent utility is the same speaker without the furniture look. If the furniture look is required, a pair of bullnose would be my first choice with the Marantz. The size of the room will be a big consideration since doubling the distance requires more power to make up for the 6db drop in SPL.

The KLH Sixes would be my choice. They are mid century modern, produced from 1958-72.
Great iconic speakers that play any genre well and with SS or tube power.

A stereo is an "appliance", and a piece of furniture, so aesthetics IMHO are always a consideration. I could make dinner every night in a 60's kitchen with avacado green or burnt orange appliances, but do I want to look at that every day? (maybe some would), but I'll stick with my brushed stainless steel. If I want to close my eyes and get truly involved in the music, that is one thing--but having to close my eyes because I can't stand to look at the gear is a whole other story. Go with what you like and matches your home.

I hava a pair of the S-45's. They are great till you get to the lower frequencies, which they definitely lack. They image really well though. I have been thinking about a subwoofer for mine.
